Ceramics

Ceramics is elemental, encompassing geology, heat, gravity, and time. It is a grounded experience of immersive embodiment and sensory, haptic perception where illusions of distance and separateness are suspended. Making art is a transcendent activity and the kiln’s fire creates magical transformations akin to alchemy.

My work honours personal and collective trauma, brokenness, fragility, and displacement. Their surfaces carry a history of their making while their interiors hold emotions, memories, hopes, and intentions. The uncanny organic forms bridge the intersection of culture and nature. Embracing chance, failure, and a loss of control, they bear witness to the sublime, vulnerable natural world.
